My First Day in Rome 🇮🇹

A slow morning in Rome ☕

My first morning started the Italian way: slowly. A cappuccino, a sweet Maritozzo and a little table outside while Rome was waking up around me.

From there, I wandered through the historic streets towards the Trevi Fountain. Rome is one of those cities where getting a little lost might actually be the best part of the day.

Wandering through the Eternal City 🇮🇹

Around every corner there seemed to be another beautiful piazza, tiny café or market filled with tomatoes, lemons, herbs, pasta and local cheese.

I passed the Pantheon, wandered around Piazza Navona and eventually made my way towards the little streets of Trastevere.

But there was one thing I definitely wanted to experience on my first day in Rome: real Roman food.

My first Cacio e Pepe 🍝

Sometimes the simplest food is the most memorable.

Cacio e Pepe is made with just a few ingredients — pasta, Pecorino Romano and black pepper — yet when it's prepared properly, it becomes incredibly creamy and full of flavour.

Sitting outside a little Roman trattoria with a plate of fresh Cacio e Pepe in front of me was one of those simple travel moments I could happily repeat again and again.

And yes… I finally understand the hype. 🤍

Rome at golden hour 🌅

I ended my first day watching the sun slowly disappear behind Rome's rooftops and domes.

Good food, beautiful streets and nowhere to rush to.

Maybe that's what I love most about travelling — not just seeing a new place, but slowing down enough to actually experience it.

And this was only Day 1. 💗
